Nita Desai, M.D., is a Medical Doctor in Integrative Medicine, who practices in Louisville, Colorado. After starting her career as a family practice doctor, she realized she was only treating symptoms and not providing real solutions to people with chronic illness, and so, began her journey into studying Integrative Medicine. She is a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner from Alandi Ayurveda Gurukula, a certified Yoga teacher, and Tibetan Cranial practitioner, and has also studied Western Nutrition, and Integrative/ Functional Medicine. Some of her teachers included Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. Datis Kharrazian, and Alakananada Devi. She studied the spiritual sciences including meditation and Kundalini science for over 15 years with Swami Chandrashekaranand Saraswati.
Dr. Desai is uniquely qualified to blend the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda with the latest in modern medical knowledge, creating a comprehensive system of personalized healthcare. Her goal is to understand and to treat the core imbalances in the body and not simply treat symptoms.
She utilizes Ayurvedic skills including face, nail, tongue, and pulse diagnosis, in addition to blood work analysis, and Regulation Thermometry. Routine consultations include detailed nutrition lifestyle, exercise, herbal, and supplement recommendations.
She has appeared on Dr OZ, Gaiam TV, and was featured in Denver’s 5280 magazine. She has lectured at University of Colorado Medical School, Naropa University, and multiple professional conferences, and has been a mentor to medical students and Ayurvedic Practitioners. She opened the first halotherapy spa in Colorado to support people with chronic respiratory conditions. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, and going for long walks with her dogs.
